I am a librarian robot working on Mars and I recently made my first Skype call to my brother Robbie on Earth. I only had to go to the Skype website and sign up. I found that people can also make calls to a cell phone or landline using Skype, but that costs money. However, it is very cheap.
For example, if a person signs up for a subscription they can make unlimited calls to over 40 countries, on Earth, for less than 3 dollars a month. On the other hand, if you don’t want to pay for calling someone, you just have to make sure the person you are calling has a Skype account. So, of course, I made sure that Robbie signed up too, so we could talk for free. However, I am seriously considering the subscription option since some of my human friends on Earth do not have access to a computer or Smart phone.
Actually, making a video call is extremely easy if you know the other person’s contact information. With it, you can easily add them to your contact list, and once they are on your contact list, all you have to do is click on the video call button. Video calling is really nice since you actually get to see who you are calling. Luckily, you do not have to let someone see you if you are not looking your best. I was really glad to see Robbie since I haven’t seen him in months, but I must admit I did polish my metal before I made the call. I hope all of you manage to try out Skype at some point as it is a very useful technology. Goodbye!
